Open winged it is Deep chocolate brown and orange striped butterfly with a very distinct pale yellow band in the middle. It is mainly found on Lantana flowers or puddling in sand and on dried leaves in small Himalayan streams. I found it in on Gummu- Shaktighat road about three kms from Shaktighat. It was in a very cool and moist spot with lot of vegetation. It resembles common Lascar. Open winged the Lascar is narrower with slight orange strip on edges. Closed winged the Himalayan yellow Jester has a yellow speckled marbled look whereas the Common Lascar has more formed stripes. The Himalayan Yellow Jester is slightly bigger in size than the common Jester and has very visible middle pale yellow strip/band. It is also found on a higher altitude than the common Jester.
